About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, professional, and passionate Personal Chef to join a distinguished private household in Accra, Ghana. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and preparing high-quality meals with a strong emphasis on continental cuisine, baking, and light refreshments. This role requires someone who takes exceptional pride in their craft and upholds the highest standards of hygiene, presentation, and discretion in a private household environment.

Employment Type: Full-Time (Shift System)

Salary Range: GHS 4,000 – GHS 6,500 per month (based on experience)

Probation Period: 4 Months

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) as well as special occasion menus tailored to the employer’s preferences, dietary requirements, and guest needs.
  • Demonstrate expertise in continental cuisine (French, Italian, Mediterranean) alongside proficiency in baking, including breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts, as well as the preparation of sandwiches, canapés, and snacks for everyday dining and entertaining.
  • Create diverse, nutritious, and visually appealing menus using fresh, high-quality ingredients; accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies with care.
  • Manage kitchen supplies, grocery procurement, and inventory efficiently while operating within the household’s food budget.
  • Maintain the kitchen to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety at all times.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a two-chef team, adhering to the agreed shift schedule, and coordinate with other household staff for seamless meal service.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion regarding the employer’s household, personal preferences, and affairs at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Formal culinary training from a recognised institution; food hygiene and safety certification (e.g., HACCP or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in a luxury restaurant, five-star hotel, or high-end private household.
  • Demonstrated expertise in continental cuisine, fine dining presentation, baking, and the preparation of light bites and snacks.
  • Highly organised, reliable, and capable of maintaining consistently high culinary standards independently and as part of a team.
  • Impeccably groomed and well-presented at all times, with a thorough understanding of personal hygiene standards appropriate to a professional kitchen and private household setting.
  • Trustworthy, calm under pressure, and professional in conduct and appearance.

Working Conditions
The role is based within a private residence in Accra, Ghana. The position operates within a two-chef team on a structured shift system, which includes Sundays. Shifts and rest days will be fairly scheduled and communicated in advance. Flexibility is expected during special occasions, events, or when the household is hosting guests.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Monthly salary of GHS 4,000 – GHS 6,500, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • 13th month salary, payable upon completion of one (1) full year of satisfactory employment.
  • 3 weeks (15 working days) of paid annual leave per year.
  • Accommodation provided on or near the premises.
  • Coverage of minor medical expenses incurred during the course of employment.
  • Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to submit a valid police clearance certificate and undergo a medical examination; all associated costs will be fully covered by the employer.
  • Meal provisions during working hours.
  • All statutory entitlements in accordance with Ghanaian labour law.
