About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Personal Chef to join a private household in Accra. We would like someone who has lived or worked in a French speaking country, or who is fluent in French, since this will help with day to day communication in the household. Strong baking skills are also important for this role. You will plan and prepare meals to a high standard, with a focus on continental cuisine and baking, and you will be expected to keep the highest standards of hygiene, presentation, and discretion.
Employment Type: Full-Time (Shift System)
Salary Range: GHS 4,000 – GHS 6,500 per month (based on experience)
Probation Period: 4 Months
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) as well as special occasion menus tailored to the employer’s preferences, dietary requirements, and guest needs.
- Demonstrate expertise in continental cuisine (French, Italian, Mediterranean) alongside proficiency in baking, including breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts, as well as the preparation of sandwiches, canapés, and snacks for everyday dining and entertaining.
- Create diverse, nutritious, and visually appealing menus using fresh, high-quality ingredients; accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies with care.
- Manage kitchen supplies, grocery procurement, and inventory efficiently while operating within the household’s food budget.
- Maintain the kitchen to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety at all times.
- Work collaboratively as part of a two-chef team, adhering to the agreed shift schedule, and coordinate with other household staff for seamless meal service.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion regarding the employer’s household, personal preferences, and affairs at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least two years of work experience in a French speaking country, or fluency in French. This is a firm requirement for this role.
- Formal culinary training. A food hygiene and safety certificate, such as HACCP, is an advantage.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in a luxury restaurant, five star hotel, or high end private household.
- Strong baking skills, including breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts.
- Well organised, reliable, and able to keep high cooking standards on your own and as part of a team.
- Well presented, with good personal hygiene standards suited to a professional kitchen and private home.
- Trustworthy, calm under pressure, and professional at all times.
Working Conditions
The role is based within a private residence in Accra, Ghana. The position operates within a two-chef team on a structured shift system, which includes Sundays. Shifts and rest days will be fairly scheduled and communicated in advance. Flexibility is expected during special occasions, events, or when the household is hosting guests.

- Please note: staff accommodation is provided on or near the premises. The room is suitable for one person, with enough space for one other adult and a child to visit occasionally. It is not designed for a full family to live in together on a permanent basis.
- Before starting work, the successful candidate must provide a valid police clearance certificate and complete a medical examination. The employer will cover the cost of both.
