Job Brief:
A fast-growing indigenous Oil Marketing Company (OMC), licensed by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), is seeking an exceptional, visionary, and commercially driven General Manager to lead the next phase of its growth.
The company has established a growing presence in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector through bulk petroleum sales and an expanding retail network. Its interests span petroleum trading, bulk distribution, retail operations, transportation and logistics, lubricants, LPG, and non-fuel retail businesses.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will provide strategic leadership and executive oversight of the company’s operations, commercial activities, financial performance, and long-term growth.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the corporate strategy while building a high-performing organisation capable of delivering sustainable growth, operational excellence, and strong shareholder value.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Provide strategic leadership and overall management of the company.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion.
- Develop and execute the company’s long-term strategic plan.
- Lead petroleum product sourcing, international supplier negotiations, trading activities, and pricing strategies.
- Expand the bulk customer portfolio across mining, construction, manufacturing, transport, aviation, marine, power generation, and government sectors.
- Lead the acquisition and development of new retail fuel stations and commission dealer networks.
- Oversee petroleum transportation operations, ensuring fleet efficiency, safety, and service excellence.
- Develop and grow the lubricants, LPG, and non-fuel businesses.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, financial institutions, international suppliers, strategic partners, and key customers.
- Establish robust governance, financial controls, compliance systems, and operational processes.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing management team capable of supporting the company’s long-term ambitions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience within the downstream oil and gas industry.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a senior executive leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in petroleum product sourcing, international trading, procurement, pricing, and commercial negotiations.
- Proven experience managing bulk petroleum sales, retail operations, logistics, supply chain, and business development.
- Strong understanding of Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry and its regulatory environment.
- Successful track record of leading business growth, improving profitability, and building high-performing teams.
- Excellent leadership, commercial, financial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
