Overview
A growing restaurant located near a reputable university is seeking a skilled and dependable Chef to join its restaurant team.
The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing quality meals, having oversight over the restaurant catering team, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
Must have practical experience preparing pastries and fast-food such as jollof rice, fried rice, and pastry such as pies, shawarma, and related products.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to the restaurant’s menu and standards.
- Ensure consistency in food quality, taste and presentation.
- Prepare ingredients and manage food portions efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic and well-organized kitchen.
- Properly handle and store food ingredients to minimize waste.
- Work closely with Kitchen Assistants to ensure timely food preparation.
- Monitor ingredients and report stock requirements to the Supervisor.
- Follow proper food safety and hygiene procedures
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Chef or Cook in a restaurant, hotel, catering business or similar establishment.
- Good knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
- Ability to make pastries will be an added advantage.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain consistent food quality.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a team.
