Job Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our client, an established trading company based in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region, is seeking a competent, detail-oriented and reliable Accountant \/ Bookkeeper<\/strong> to manage its day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records and support effective financial management.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial transactions, monitoring income and expenditure, preparing financial reports, managing receivables and payables, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and tax requirements.<\/p>\n

This position requires a hands-on accounting professional who is comfortable managing the financial records of a trading business, working with accounting software and providing management with accurate financial information to support business decisions.<\/p>\n

The company will arrange initial training and support to help the successful candidate become familiar with the accounting system and its implementation.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Bookkeeping and Financial Record Management<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    • Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.<\/li>\n
    • Record daily sales, purchases, receipts, payments and other business transactions.<\/li>\n
    • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are correctly classified and posted.<\/li>\n
    • Reconcile bank accounts, cashbooks, supplier statements and other relevant accounts regularly.<\/li>\n
    • Ensure proper filing and documentation of invoices, receipts, payment vouchers and supporting financial records.<\/li>\n
    • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies promptly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      1. Accounts Payable and Receivable<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          \n
        • Monitor customer accounts, outstanding invoices and payment collections.<\/li>\n
        • Maintain accurate records of supplier invoices, outstanding balances and payment obligations.<\/li>\n
        • Prepare payment schedules and support timely settlement of approved supplier invoices.<\/li>\n
        • Follow up on overdue customer payments and provide regular debtor reports to management.<\/li>\n
        • Reconcile customer and supplier accounts to ensure the accuracy of balances.<\/li>\n
        • Monitor credit transactions and assist management in controlling outstanding receivables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          1. Cash Flow and Financial Management<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
              \n
            • Monitor daily cash inflows and outflows to support effective cash flow management.<\/li>\n
            • Prepare periodic cash flow reports and forecasts.<\/li>\n
            • Track business expenditure and identify opportunities for cost control.<\/li>\n
            • Support the preparation of budgets and monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets.<\/li>\n
            • Provide management with accurate financial information to support operational and commercial decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              1. Inventory and Trading Accounts<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                  \n
                • Work with relevant operational staff to reconcile stock purchases, sales and inventory records.<\/li>\n
                • Assist in monitoring inventory valuation, cost of goods sold and gross profit margins.<\/li>\n
                • Identify and report discrepancies between stock records and financial accounts.<\/li>\n
                • Support periodic stocktaking exercises and the reconciliation of physical stock against recorded inventory.<\/li>\n
                • Ensure accurate accounting treatment of stock purchases, returns, discounts and other trading transactions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  1. Financial Reporting<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                      \n
                    • Prepare monthly financial statements and management accounts.<\/li>\n
                    • Produce profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports.<\/li>\n
                    • Prepare regular summaries of sales, purchases, expenses, receivables and payables.<\/li>\n
                    • Analyse financial performance and highlight significant variances, risks and areas requiring management attention.<\/li>\n
                    • Provide timely financial reports to support business planning and decision-making.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                        \n
                      1. Tax Compliance and Internal Controls<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                          \n
                        • Assist in preparing and submitting applicable tax returns, including VAT and other statutory obligations.<\/li>\n
                        • Maintain accurate tax records and ensure appropriate documentation is available for statutory reporting.<\/li>\n
                        • Support compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority requirements and relevant financial regulations.<\/li>\n
                        • Implement and maintain appropriate financial controls to safeguard company funds and assets.<\/li>\n
                        • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing relevant records and documentation.<\/li>\n
                        • Identify financial irregularities and recommend corrective measures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                            \n
                          1. Accounting Software and Systems<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                              \n
                            • Maintain financial records using approved accounting software.<\/li>\n
                            • Work with an appointed accounting software consultant during the initial system setup and training period.<\/li>\n
                            • Ensure accurate entry, classification and reconciliation of transactions within the accounting system.<\/li>\n
                            • Maintain proper electronic records and support the integrity of financial data.<\/li>\n
                            • Recommend improvements to existing bookkeeping processes and financial reporting procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              Qualifications and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

                              Essential Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                \n
                              • HND or Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Accounting<\/li>\n
                              • A minimum of ACCA Level 1 completed (Applied Knowledge level)<\/strong> or an equivalent recognised professional accounting qualification at a comparable stage.<\/li>\n
                              • At least 2\u20133 years of relevant practical accounting or bookkeeping experience<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
                              • Demonstrable experience maintaining accounting records, preparing reconciliations and producing financial reports.<\/li>\n
                              • Good understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management and general ledger accounting.<\/li>\n
                              • Working knowledge of Ghanaian taxation and relevant statutory compliance requirements.<\/li>\n
                              • Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.<\/li>\n
                              • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.<\/li>\n
                              • Willingness and ability to work full-time in Dormaa Ahenkro.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
