Our client is a fast-growing, indigenous Oil Marketing Company (OMC) licensed by the
\nNational Petroleum Authority (NPA). Since commencing operations, the Company has established a
\ngrowing presence in Ghana\u2019s downstream petroleum sector through bulk petroleum sales and an
\nexpanding retail network. As part of its ambitious growth strategy, the company is positioning itself to
\nbecome one of Ghana\u2019s leading integrated energy companies, with interests spanning petroleum trading,
\nbulk distribution, retail operations, transportation and logistics, lubricants, LPG, and non-fuel retail
\nbusinesses.<\/div>\n

Role Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven and operationally strong Retail & Distribution Manager to take overall responsibility for the Company\u2019s retail network and bulk customer operations.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all existing and new retail outlets are properly established, efficiently operated, adequately supplied and profitable. The role will also have end-to-end responsibility for the reliable and timely supply of petroleum products to all bulk customers, from order and supply planning through loading, transportation, delivery and reconciliation.<\/p>\n

This is a hands-on management role requiring strong commercial, operational and people-management capabilities, with particular emphasis on sales growth, profitability, product accountability, customer service and operational controls. These responsibilities build on the company\u2019s existing retail and distribution function covering retail operations, bulk customers, sales performance and supply management.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Retail Operations & Profitability:<\/strong> Take overall responsibility for the operational and financial performance of all company-operated, dealer-operated and affiliated retail outlets. Drive sales volumes, margins, profitability, customer service and compliance with the company’s standards.<\/li>\n
  • Retail Network Development:<\/strong> Coordinate the establishment and commissioning of new outlets, including site readiness, regulatory requirements, branding, equipment, staffing, product stocking, systems deployment and dealer onboarding.<\/li>\n
  • Bulk Customer Operations:<\/strong> Manage the complete order-to-delivery process for all bulk customers, ensuring products are supplied accurately, safely and on time while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.<\/li>\n
  • Product Supply & Distribution:<\/strong> Coordinate product requirements, lifting, dispatch and delivery to retail outlets and bulk customers. Optimise product availability, delivery scheduling, truck utilisation and turnaround times while minimising stock-outs and distribution costs.<\/li>\n
  • Sales & Commercial Performance:<\/strong> Develop and execute strategies to achieve retail and bulk volume, margin and profitability targets. Monitor performance by station, customer and product and implement corrective measures where targets are not achieved.<\/li>\n
  • Stock & Product Accountability:<\/strong> Maintain strict controls over product receipts, storage, transfers, dispensing and deliveries. Ensure regular stock reconciliation and promptly investigate losses, shortages and abnormal variances. The existing role specifically requires physical stock to reconcile with financial records.<\/li>\n
  • Credit & Receivables:<\/strong> Work closely with Finance to ensure strict adherence to approved customer credit limits and periods, timely invoicing, account reconciliation and collection of outstanding receivables.<\/li>\n
  • Internal Controls:<\/strong> Implement effective controls to prevent fuel losses, theft, cash shortages, revenue leakage and other operational irregularities across the retail and distribution network.<\/li>\n
  • People Management:<\/strong> Lead and supervise station managers, retail personnel and relevant distribution teams. Establish clear KPIs, provide coaching and ensure accountability for performance.<\/li>\n
  • Compliance & HSSE:<\/strong> Ensure retail and distribution operations comply with applicable NPA, GRA, environmental, fire, safety and other regulatory requirements. Maintain strong HSSE standards across stations, depots and customer deliveries.<\/li>\n
  • Systems & Reporting:<\/strong> Ensure effective utilisation of ERP, POS, ATG and other operational systems and provide accurate and timely management reports covering sales, stocks, margins, deliveries, receivables and profitability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Key Performance Indicators<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Performance will be measured primarily on retail and bulk sales-volume growth; station and overall retail profitability; gross-margin performance; product availability; bulk delivery performance; wet-stock and delivery variances; customer retention; DSO and overdue receivables; operational uptime; HSSE and regulatory compliance; and accuracy and timeliness of management reporting. These align with the company\u2019s existing KPIs for volume, throughput, margins, stock variance, receivables, HSSE and operational uptime.<\/p>\n

    Qualifications & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Bachelor\u2019s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Petroleum Management, Engineering or a related discipline.<\/li>\n
    • Minimum 5 years\u2019 relevant experience, preferably within an Oil Marketing Company or downstream petroleum business, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.<\/li>\n
    • Strong practical experience in petroleum retail operations, bulk fuel distribution, product supply, stock management and commercial operations.<\/li>\n
    • Demonstrable experience managing multiple outlets, sales targets, margins and operational profitability.<\/li>\n
    • Good understanding of Ghana\u2019s downstream petroleum industry and regulatory environment.<\/li>\n
    • Strong analytical, leadership, negotiation, customer-management and problem-solving skills.<\/li>\n
    • High level of integrity, accountability and attention to detail.<\/li>\n
    • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to retail outlets, depots and customer locations nationwide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
