OVERVIEW
A Junior Quantity Surveyor is urgently needed for a project in Accra.
POSITION SUMMARY
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in quantity take-off and the preparation of Bills of Quantities, along with sound knowledge of procurement processes, contract administration, valuation, and interim payment procedures. This role demands precision, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to managing construction costs and contracts.
Job Location: Accra (Candidate may be required to move to different project locations in the future.)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities for various construction projects.
- Assist in managing costs and budgets across construction projects.
- Assist in procurement processes, including tender analysis and contract preparation.
- Support contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Support accurate and timely cost reporting and project accounting.
- Assist in the valuation of work and preparation of interim payment applications.
- Assist in negotiating costs and commercial aspects with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist in feasibility studies and cost planning.
- Conduct site visits to assess progress.
- Participate in monitoring and managing project variations.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost efficiency and value engineering.
- Contribute to system improvements for cost savings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Additional certifications in QS software or contract management are an added advantage.
- A high level of English Language proficiency is mandatory.
- Proficiency in the French Language will be considered an added advantage.
- This position may require travelling outside Ghana; the candidate must have a valid passport.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-degree experience in performing Quantity Surveying activities
- Exposure to construction industry projects.
- Experience with procurement and contract administration.
- Experience with valuation and interim payment processes.
- Experience with government-related projects is a plus.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (mandatory)
- Working knowledge of Planswift and CostX software
- Basic knowledge of Standard Systems of Measurement
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts or other standard forms of contract • Proficiency in MS Project is advantageous
