JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Supervisor, Retail Banking, is responsible for leading Relationship Officers in the Retail Banking segment. He/she is required to drive the growth the deposit portfolio in line with agreed targets, as well as driving uptake of pre-qualified loans within the Retail segment. The Sales Supervisor will report directly to the Branch Manager, with matrix reporting to the Sales Manager, Retail Banking.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
People
- Supervise the Retail Relationship Officers’ daily performance to ensure the Branch achieves its targets and goals
- Identify, recruit, retain and lead a highly motivated and skilled Relationship Officers in order to meet the needs of customers in the segment and in line with the digital-forward approach of the organisation.
Customer
- Lead the deployment of the digital-forward value proposition of the Retail Banking segment to increase customer growth and retention.
- Work with the Branch Manager and Sales Manager, Retail Banking to plan and carry out activities to pursue monthly and annual objectives via customer onboarding, campaigns and customer retention programs through Retail Relationship Officers.
- Provide input and customer insights to ensure that digital channels and products are designed to meet customer needs.
- Work with Branch Manager and Sales Manager to initiate and implement sales/promotional activities to actively put the Institution’s products and services in the local market to increase market share within the branch’s catchment area.
Risk Management
- Identify, monitor and mitigate risks inherent in the selling process – mis-selling, treating customers fairly, reputational risk, operational risk and other risks.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Good leadership and the ability to motivate and coach a team into achieving set goals.
- Good marketing skills and a general knowledge of sales techniques.
- Proficient in the use of computers and software such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.
- Assertive, and able to handle pressure effectively.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Business Administration, Business Management, Commerce, Finance, Accountancy, Banking, or any related field.
- At least 3 years of work experience in supervising a sales team in a bank or other financial institution in the personal and retail segment.
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience (people and team management)
