HSEQ Engineer needed in Togo for a construction project.

Role Summary: Ensuring compliance with regulations, implementing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, managing environmental initiatives, and maintaining quality standards within the organisation.

What You Will Do:

• Ensure the company complies with regulatory compliance, local, national and international standards.
• Develop, implement and review safety protocols and procedures.
• Conducts safety inspections, audits and identify hazards and risks
• Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and asses their impact
• Develop strategies to mitigate risks and immprove overall safety within the company
• Investigate accidents and incidents to assess root causes. Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety.
• Implement necessary systems to ensure compliance.
• Monitor and report on all metrics.
• Conduct quality and safety audits and inspections.
• Provide training to employees on safety procedures, environmental practices and quality standards.
• Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in processes and systems.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and external partners as needed.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
• Coordinate emergency drills and training exercises.
• Maintain accurate records of HSEQ activities, incidents, inspections, audits, and training
• Design and implement HSEQ Policies, procedures, and initiatives
• Site visits will be required on on-going basis

Technical Skills

• In-depth knowledge of HSEQ standards
• Project Management

Requirements

• Should be fluent in French
• Should be able to communicate in English.
• A bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or a related field
• Diploma or Degree in Construction Safety
• Registration with Professional Board
• 5 – 10 years experience in HSEQ role
• More than 3 years in the Construction Industry
• Desirable previous experience on Government reletad projects

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1. Responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and develop measures to assure personnel safety.
2. Participate in planning meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily work-plan.
3. Inspect the site to ensure it is a hazard-free environment to work.
4. Conduct toolbox meetings.
5. Verify that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
6. Enforce safety guidelines.
7. Train and carry out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
8. Conduct investigations of all accidents and near-misses.
9. Conduct job hazard analysis
10. Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
11. Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
12. Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

• Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
• ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Lead Auditor
• ISO 14001: 2015 Environmental Management System Lead Auditor
• minimum of 3 years working experience
