OVERVIEW
Procurement and Logistics Manager needed urgently for a construction project in Northern Ghana.
ROLE SUMMARY
Managing procurement activities, optimizing logistics operations, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective supply chain management
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used throughout the projects. Managing the overall direction of procurement
- Evaluate brand and operational requirements.
- Conduct cost analyses and set benchmarks for continuous improvement.
- Maintain relationships with current suppliers while continually scouting for additional sources/vendors. Negotiate contracts, terms and deadlines with suppliers.
- Ensuring accuracy of orders Assisting in Audits if required Inventory Management
- Management of prioritizations of procurement requirements
- Manage efficient communication and flow of purchase orders, and deliveries of goods.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages. Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing.
- Evaluate spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased, the timeliness of deliveries, and inventory management optimization.
- Work closely with the company project management to make sure contracts and terms are favourable and within the required timelines.
- Arranging transportation of all purchased products and materials with transportation/shipping companies to various countries
- Shipping quotes and comparisons
- Monitoring goods in transit and ensuring timeous arrival Monitoring logistics program on various projects
- Manage risk by analyzing current/future market transport conditions and defining contingency plans to ensure critical supply needs are met
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and inventory management principles. Proficiency in procurement and logistics software and tools
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Logistics experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive experience working in the procurement & Logistics department in a construction field +5 years Minimum 5 years experience in Logistics procurement on a Global level (Africa)
- Desirable previous experience in government-related projects
- Degree in a relevant discipline, Supply chain management, Logistics (CSCP,CPSM)
- High level of English and French
